“Development of an EIA Mechanism in the Transboundary Prespa Park (Cooperation between Greece, Albania and Fyrom)”
Prespes, 21/12/2005
Monday 2 January 2006
The project aims at the development of a mechanism for Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Stategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) in the transboundary Prespa Park, indispensable for the integrated protection and sustainable development of the protected area. The experts from Greece, Albania and FYROM that participate in it will study and analyze at a first stage the national legislations and the administrative practices concerning EIA and SEA in the three countries. At a second stage they will assess the harmonization process and the extent of compliance of national legislation with the respective international environmental conventions and the EU legislation. Based on the results of these actions the research team will elaborate a draft trilateral agreement on transboundary EIA/SEA in the Prespa Park. The project is co-financed by the Hellenic Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the framework of the Hellenic International Development Cooperation (HELLENIC AID) and by “Nomos+Physis” (75%, 25%).
