“Comparative Legal Analysis (EU Environmental Acquis and Barcelona Convention)”
Athens - Brussels, 3/10/2005
Monday 2 January 2006
The project concerns the comparative legal analysis of the two bodies of law, the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols and the EU environmental legislation. The overall aim of this analysis is to provide the EC Services with a useful tool for integrating the legal provisions of the Barcelona System into the EU environmental acquis. Specific objectives of the analysis are to identify any gaps in the implementation of the legal texts of the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols in Community legislation, to provide recommendations to the Commission on how these gaps might be reasonably filled and to identify significant obligations under EU environmental acquis which are not included in the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols. The project is financed by DG Environment of the European Commission.
