The research project (Athens-Sofia, 2001) examined the application of environmental impact assessment (EIA) rules and procedures in a transboundary context. Its aim was to help the Administrations of both countries, Greece and Bulgaria, develop and organize their EIA bilateral cooperation on the firm basis of the Espoo Convention and the relevant EC Directives. The project was developed by initiative and with the administrative support of the Centre of European Constitutional Law and financed by the Hellenic Development Cooperation of the Hellenic Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works.
